I tried it once - I don't have the patience for it! My sister is a pro at it however...

What do I NOT take...? About a zillion daily vitamins, pills to keep me from going crazy, pills to keep my feet from swelling up. My pile o' pills at night is getting ridiculous.

30 Days of Truth Blog... Thingee. Day 01: Something you hate about yourself.

By now it's no secret that my weight is not my greatest feature...  But I won't say I hate that - or anything about myself really. There's no sense in hating your physical attributes. 

There's no sense in hating your nose, your eyes, your feet or the color of your skin. There's not much you can do about it - unless you want to spend all of your money on expensive surgeries. It's a senseless waste of energy and life is too short.

I have a gap in my front teeth. I hated it as a child. I went to my dentist and he wouldn't put braces on me to "fix a little gap". He said there was nothing wrong with my teeth - they were perfect. I just had that little gap. No braces for you! 

So I went home with the thought in my little brain that I was just going to be ugly and have an ugly gap in my front teeth for the rest of my life. 

I struggled with that for the better part of my teenage and young adult years. Couple that with the weight I've constantly struggled with carrying around, my constant need to please everyone (I've since gotten over that one...) and what do we have? 

A recipe for social disaster. 

It wasn't until later on in life that I realized my fat and my gap weren't going to be my demise. Know who else has a gap? 

Madonna. 

And Georgia Jagger.

I could be in worse company.

So I'll keep my gap. And if I can't get rid of all the weight - I'll keep that too. As long as I am at a point where I'm comfortable in my own skin. 

That's my goal. 

In case I ever forget though - I have this Marilyn Monroe quote on my bedroom wall to remind me to always....

I stumbled upon this fun little blog hop - and since I'm in a storming up the blog-o-sphere mood today - I figured it would be the perfect opportunity for me to do a post on (drum roll plz):
The Top 10 Songs Of My Life(or at least some of them - there's way more than 10 actually...)
Remember this post? Well this one is kinda like that - but I'm doing specific songs this time. We all have them - certain songs that every time we hear them on the radio we are transported back to a specific time and place. Please allow me to take you on a journey back through some of my favorite songs... 
1. Ace of Base Don't Turn AroundThis song conjures up memories of a particular trip I took as a teenager to Panama City Beach, Florida - my family's yearly summer vacation spot. This song had just been released and I had the cassette single. I played it over and over and over and over on my little Walkman as I laid out on the beach and by the pool soaking up the sun with my sister and her best friend. I just couldn't get enough of it. I still love it! This one definitely brings back happy thoughts of beachy good times!

2. Aerosmith Cryin'This song doesn't necessarily bring up good memories for me... But it reminds me of a particular summer that was rather... shall we say... definitive in my life. The whole "Amazin', Crazy, Cryin'" phase they went through can be grouped into that same summer. 

3. Trick Daddy I'm a Thug'This one always makes me laugh... It reminds me of when I was around 21 years old and I met my best friends Diane and Paul. When I first told Paul that I'd quit-uated from high school and gotten my GED - he immediately started calling me a thug and would sing this song to me repeatedly. It was hysterical... Obviously - I'm not a thug and now have a college edu-ma-cation - but it was still hysterical... and it still reminds me of Paul and allllll the good times we 3 have had over the years. 

4. System of a Down Chop Suey!This song is so awesome... System of a Down is awesome. When I first moved to Arizona, my brother in law, myself, and our friend Justin spent a lot of time out at the local bars checking out the cover bands. We love cover bands... During one particularly drunken episode, the three of us had this brilliant idea that we were going to start a band - and cover System of a Down Songs. I had all their CD's in my car and it became our drunken tradition as my poor sober sister had to drive us - to sing these songs at the top of our lungs the entire ride home. Our band name? T.A.B. Tits, Ass & Beer. (Don't ask...)

5. Green Day SheThis whole entire Green Day album is one of my favorites of all time - as was the one that followed. Who wouldn't love an album entitled Dookie??? Hysterical... I listened to this one over and over on my first portable CD player on a trip to my family's winter vacation spot as a teenager - Gatlinburg, Tennessee. My parents hated it. I looooooved it!

6. Faith Hill CryThe song that got me through my first real heartbreak...

7. Luke Bryan's cover/mix of Fishin' In The DarkIt will always remind me of high school and the many live shows I went to of his before he was famous. He sang it at every single one of them. He still does. It's awesome that he still sings a song that takes me right back to our high school days. Then he adds in a little Collective Soul. You gotta love his creativity.

8. Jimmy Buffett Cheeseburger In ParadiseReally... who needs to mend their carnivorous habits? I'm all for Cheeseburgers In Paradise! And am a Parrothead until the day I die (maybe even after...)

9. Alice In Chains Man In The BoxIt's timeless... Remember those cover bands I mentioned earlier?? They ALWAYS did this one... And I LOVED IT!

10. Jewel Angel Standing ByThis one brings back so many memories of so many different good times. I can't even begin to name them all. Such a good song - an even better album.

Music For The Morning: Saturday Nostalgia

A little bit 'o Heather History for ya here this morning Lovelies! Try to contain your excitement... ;)

This video has a lot of different meanings for me.
Number 1: The artist is Luke Bryan - whom I went to high school with. We grew up together in a town with a population of less than 3000 people. Everybody knew everybody - and we were all friends.

I remember watching Luke in the high school musicals thinking "this guy's gonna make it."

Well - I was right. He made it.

I was there for his first "real" live performance at my best friend's daddy's bar in our small town of Leesburg, GA. This song is about that small town - and what it was like growing up for us. It will always be one of my personal favorites. Every time I watch it I feel like I'm back home - which is comforting to me.

I miss home and I miss this life we used to live that he describes in this song. It's a lot different here in Arizona. I hope this video shows you perhaps just a glimpse of it.

I've included the lyrics down below the video. The Flint River is where we all learned to swim. It's where we went fishing, it's the river that caused the "Flood of the Century" - and then another one a few years later.

They played this song live at the NHL All-Star Game this year. Here's the video of the performance:

I cannot even express in words how awesome it was to see my favorite band performing live during one of the most watched games of my favorite sport. I loved it. I was in heaven!

The stomach turmoil that my new diet has put me in after just one day. I'll wait it out for a week or so - but if it continues I may have to rethink this.

MY BLOG IS GETTING A FACE LIFT!!! 

I'm so super excited! Lindsay over at Scenic Glory is doing the work - and she's awesome - so I can't wait to see how it all comes together! We've got some great ideas and the new design is going to be more of a reflection of who I am. So this is an exciting endeavor! Look for the unveiling to occur soon... 

Going on the radio tomorrow with the big guns. Mildly intimidating - but I don't care.

Monday's Music Moves Me

Well it looks like I'm starting a tradition here - start each day off with a song. I like it! So - today is the official Monday's Music Moves Me Blog Hop Day so we'll find a few songs for this event.... 
Let's start with a song for the Coyotes and their big win against the Anaheim Ducks Sunday night. It seems rather fitting... 

I feel like I'm back at a high school football game again. WE WILL, WE WILL, ROCK YOU!!!
Next I wanna kick it with a little ol' school.... (Because Queen wasn't?!?)I'm bustin' out the hair bands....
